Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], September 12: FermionIC Design Pvt. Ltd., a Bangalore-based fabless RFIC design company, announced a strategic partnership today with Tata Electronics. This collaboration will provide advanced wafer-level testing, packaging, and post-silicon validation services. The goal is to support the production scale-up of FermionIC’s indigenously designed and fully owned 4-Channel X-Band Beamformer IC, which was developed specifically for next-generation TDD Phased Array Antennas.
The FD3R4411 Beamformer IC is a pioneering innovation from India, signifying a major milestone for the country’s semiconductor and radar technology ecosystem. By enabling compact, high-performance phased array systems, this chip meets the demands of various applications, including ranging radars, imaging radars, and advanced surveillance platforms. With its adoption already underway by numerous public and private organizations, the IC is accelerating India’s capacity to build its own indigenous phased array radar solutions.
Through this new alliance, Tata Electronics will serve as the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partner, handling flip-chip ball grid array (FcBGA) assembly and wafer-level testing. This partnership between FermionIC Design and Tata Electronics highlights the increasing collaboration between India’s semiconductor design innovators and advanced manufacturing partners.
“Our partnership with Tata Electronics lets us move this complex IC, which was fully designed and developed in India, from the design phase to staggered volume production on an accelerated timeline starting in Q4 2025,” said Gautam Kumar Singh, CEO of FermionIC Design. “This also ensures that nearly the entire manufacturing value chain remains within India.”
